Willow's birthday pictures

Thanks for letting me know that Willow's birthday pictures made it through to you guys 🙂  She can be quite the poser for the camera! lol  I was taking some pics of just my mom with the chocolate birthday cake I got for her and I think Willow was a little jealous or upset I wasn't taking a picture of her cause when I was taking the pictures of my mom, Willow was beside me whining! lol  It was funny!  Maybe she didn't want to share her special day with my mom or share the attention with anyone else lol  I did get some pictures of my Mom and Willow together though - since they both share the same birthday and all 😉.  Oh, and I also got a few shots of Willow with her best friend (and her Aunt lol) 😉  Brandy is getting better at having pictures taken 🙂 Yesterday was a fun and enjoyable day for everyone despite the rainy/icy weather, but I did manage to get both dogs out for a little birthday walk together after it stopped raining and before things started to get icy! 🙂

Enjoy the sunshine today!  I'll be taking Willow out for a walk shortly 🙂

Hello Don,

Just reading this and noticed that I forgot to mention the name of the insurance company although I did mention it in the subject section. Petsplusus is by far way cheaper than the two companies that are advertised at my vets,, Petsplusus accidental $20, medical/accidental 50.  Trupanion accidental $50, medical/accidental $90.There's another company, I can't recall the name, but they were more expensive again. Merlin still living the life

It’s been a while since I sent you pictures so I figured no time like the present. We had a good day in the woods and Merlin is sleeping it off now - got’er knocked he does! Hard to believe he will be 6 in April.

His sister is a blue heeler and let me tell you, stubborn as they come but I still have to love her because she is Alé’s dog so what does one do? 

Also have you heard of Justin Barbour aka the NL Explorer? He has a YouTube page so give him a search. he has backpacked all over NL and Labrador just him and his Cape Shore water dog Saku and he documents these trips and puts docs on YouTube. Really inspiring guy! He trekked 700km from the west coast to the east coast of NL in 68 days 2 years ago and he has 3 episodes of 6 up on YouTube now. Check him out!

Cash's first birthday

Hi Don.

We thought it would be a great day to e mail you, today is Cash's first birthday. We are so pleased with him. He fits nicely into our family and he absolutely adores the children. We continue to work on obedience training and he masters new skills each day. His favorite past time is being outdoors and chewing fresh raw bones. He weighs about 80 pounds now. He makes life interesting and fun. Everyday we are blessed with his good health, strength and personality.

A very happy birthday to the other beautiful litter mates.

Isla at one year

Hi Don,

Isla turns one in a couple of days (January 31). What a great year it has been. Can’t wait to see what the coming year brings, especially when spring arrives and her field training ramps up big time – she’s definitely ready to go and loves to work! She’s definitely the kind of dog that needs a job. Here’s a photo of Isla, taken earlier today during her training session in the back woods and swim in a local lake that’s not currently frozen (can’t keep her out of the water). Her new favorite thing to do, when not retrieving in the water, is to wade (up to her shoulders if need be) along the forested shoreline while pulling small icicles off the branches that hang over the water. She’s in great shape physically (approaching a very fit 60 pounds) and mentally (loves to be challenged… the harder the terrain the better in her mind). She still excels at finding dead stuff. This morning’s find was a deer rib about 100 feet in a heavily forested area in the former Bowater Mersey. All of this is a testament to your breeding program and her parents, Pie and Dex.

Pets plus insurance

Hey Don hope all is well!!

Just send a note to u as well as your future pet owners about pets plus insurance. As u know Caper had a mishap at Christmas time where he fell down the stairs and broke his front leg. Very upsetting as a pet owner but believe me it happens. And before I go on any more I’m not a sales person to be honest like I’ve told u and others I’m not a insurance guy. I never bet on the farm. However for some reason this time I decided for a few months I would get it for him. Protecting my loved one as any pet owner would know. I had to take Caper to the vet twice for x-rays which the swelling clouded the images. Which in the holiday season is not easy to do and emergency costs are astronomical as most people know. Caper needed surgery after all this which he is almost back to normal. The cost for all this was just shy of 3600 dollars which for most would a crushing blow especially at Christmas.  But I submitted all my receipts and recovered 80 percent back.  Again not a sales person but I can count my blessings I had insurance this time and he will continue to have until 2 years when he is done growing!!! I hope this helps anyone who is even considering to let the insurance Don provides to run out!!!

Also I would like to thank Don himself for all his help getting Caper seen quickly!!

Lucy is doing great

Hi Don,

Lucy is doing great , everyone who loves Labs says how perfect her lines are and how mellow she is for her age.

She has a circle of dogs she sees every day at the cottage in PEI from May till the end of October.
When we are in Halifax she gets a daily run in point pleasant and they caught her on CTVs breakfast television
