Belle is fabulous

Belle is fabulous and we are very happy with her. She just finished her second heat cycle. She has had phantom pregnancies after each. We had her at the vet recently and they said she is likely just very fertile lol. Has really started to calm down in the house as long she gets her time in the woods everyday! I get all kinds of compliments on her temperament is amazing.

Further information about Copper Toxicosis

Copper Toxicosis has different results from other disease tests, in that dogs who are just carriers of the disease mutation (ATP7B), are still considered at risk. The modifier mutation (ATP7A) can reduce the effects of the disease mutation, however, it does not terminate the symptoms all together.

You can click on this link for more information on the CT test and how to read the results:

LayLa update

Hi Don,

Loving the blonde bossy pants (aka LayLa) addition. She is funny, oh so loving and super smart!

I had her to the vet last week and she’s now 57 lbs. the vet was pleased with her weight, overall appearance and how gentle she was. She is amazingly agile ... can jump on the bed with such quiet landing that we don’t even notice 🙄. She has trained Max to open the door for her so she can get outside. Somehow they have their respective roles figured out.

We will be by in the next weeks to get more food. LayLa had another ear infection and was licking paws so there was something she was getting that she was allergic to. Now only Inukshuk and she’s fine. I suspect it was the dog biscuit I gave them after a walk.

Take care and lest we forget

Mae update

 Hi Don,

By the time the season closes she will retrieve a lot of birds. She is just

starting to hunt both sides of the woods roads. Once the river freezes a bit

the ducks move up to my area, so will see how that goes. So far doing good

for a young dog in season one, lol.

Buck closing the loop

Hi Don,

Buck is now 4 years old.  He is a rock star.

Thank you for such a great hunting partner.

Bruce enjoyed the first dusting of snow in Nova Scotia!

Take Care,

Hank update

Hi Don,

Hope everything is well with you!

We are having so much fun with Hank, he is an amazing addition to the family!!  Here are some pictures of Hank and the girls.

We also just thought you would want to know that Hank was diagnosed with juvenile cellulitis today. He became lethargic and his face started to swell up a few days ago. The vet has him on antibiotics and a steroid to clear it up. We expect a speedy recovery and are looking forward to getting him back to his playful energetic self!

We will keep you informed of his progress.

Have a great week
