Jet update

Hi Don,

I wanted to write to let you know that Jett is the most extraordinary, wonderful dog.  He has the most calm temperament and is so easy to train (although I still need to work on his recall), and he is absolutely beloved in the neighbourhood.  You were so right that labs will do things that please us because I know he detects when I am unhappy with him.  He works hard for his treats and yet is not driven by them; he seems to enjoy being only in our company and is a happy, happy boy.  All three of us adore him and delight in his developing personality.  I have attached a photo of him from a few weeks ago.

Looking forward to having a visit with you sometime soon.

Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2016.

Another awesome day tracking with Jeff

Oh my goodness. We had another awesome day tracking with Jeff .  Noah was a little but tired as it was very hot but her rocked none the less.

Jeff was offering Noah to one of his police buddies but he said that He had no one who could handle so much dog lol

So thrilled that we had this opportunity and to train with the master! Hopefully we will come again in the spring

Tracking Day One

I think this was easily one of the best days of our lives. We are so lucky that Jeff was available to train with Noah. We did 5 tracks in so e really difficult conditions, thick brush etc and Noah rocked.

Also got to train with real canine cop team which was very exciting.
Of course everyone was super impressed with Noah.

He is now officially a double TD

Can't wait for tomorrow

Charlie aka Doindogs Chucker

Hey Don,

Charlie is enjoying the first snow! He loves any state of water, and doesn't tire of swimming.  Charlie has been in just about every lake and river Julie and I know of between buckfield and northern new brunswick.

We did obedience training for the first year or so. He was always first to learn, but he's sooooo energetic! He would learn something and need to go on to the next right away. I think we're going to do agility this spring. If we keep him thinking and moving he tires out really nice.

Honestly we were the ones that needed more training than him. Also zero health issues, you have such healthy and beautiful dogs!

Attached a few pics from today's fun in the snow. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Researchers genetically link Lou Gehrig's disease in humans to dog disease

An incurable, paralyzing disease in humans is now genetically linked to a similar disease in dogs. Researchers from the University of Missouri and the Broad Institute have found that the genetic mutation responsible for degenerative myelopathy (DM) in dogs is the same mutation that causes amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), the human disease also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. As a result of the discovery, which will be published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences this week, researchers can now use dogs with DM as animal models to help identify therapeutic interventions for curing the human disease, ALS.
