80 lb lap dog

Hello Don,

Hoping all is well with you and the family.  Here are few recent pictures of
Jay. He is doing great, enjoying life. He likes going for long hikes,
exploring in the woods and likes having his buddy, me, around.

W & B Together Again :)

My sister and I took both dogs for a walk together today 🙂 , but don't worry, they stayed nice and warm 😉 lol  My sister bought them each a winter coat lol, which they both wore today cause it was a little chilly out ..... Brandy wasn't too impressed with wearing hers today though, but Willow didn't care lol

PS:  I think my sister is trying to get them in the Christmas spirit with the red and green! lol lol lol lol lol

❤️Labs leave a lasting impression ..... they leave paw prints on your heart ❤️

Update on Maggie!

Hi Don!

It’s been a while but I thought I would send an update on our sweet Maggie girl. She is 3 now and is as good as gold. We certainly lucked out on such a fantastic dog.

We got hit with some sad news a few weeks ago when I had taken her to the vet with a swollen gum- tissue ended up being oral cancer. Before I continue- she’s going to be ok!

The vets were fantastic and made her a priority for a surgery right away in Bedford at Draper Vet services. Luckily, we caught it early and if removed won’t comeback or spread. So we were SO relieved to hear she would continue to live a long happy life after surgery. She came home yesterday. An inch of her jaw and some teeth were removed but she still looks great!

Update on Belle

Hi Don.

Jordan, me and our son Rylan wanted to provide you with an update  on Belle.

She is doing so well at 15 weeks old. She loves to walk and hike in the woods, she loves her big brother Rylan, she loves to train and is always learning  new tricks. She can sit, stay, come, watch her trainer, go to her kennel for bedtime and drop when she has stolen Rylans toys. Rylan (age 3) is learning  the commands as well to help train Belle which has been great learning for him. They are truly best buds.

She loves the water as well as playing with other dogs. She is an amazing  pup and we love her tons!

Cheers :)

Finch is 8 now and she is doing great

Hi Don,

Long time no see / chat.  Finch is 8 now and she is doing great.  Great physical shape and no health issues I am very happy to report.

Would it be possible to start talking about a new pup.  Not in a rush, but ready at a moments notice type of thing.

Just let me know.  Also, if you’d like to see how Finch is doing I am happy to run her out to see you some day.

Michael

Picture of Buff

Hi Don,

We’re doing good. Lots of play biting with very sharp teeth. His house training is going well and he doesn’t mess his kennel, lets us know when he needs to go out. He’s a very energetic puppy for sure... (not in this particular photo though)

Health risks link to obesity

Willow and Brandy

They haven't really changed all that much in a year.  They're both still pretty darn cute!

Isla Waiting For A Command

Hey Don,

Was out in the woods with Isla this morning. Here’s a photo of Isla waiting for the next command (she has great focus… most times… HA!). She’s coming along really nicely. Looks like 57lbs (maybe 58lbs)  will be her working weight. You’ve bred a natural athlete Don. Her morning routine includes 15 minutes of obedience training, 5 minutes of whistle training, 5 minutes of “hold” and “fetch” training, and around twenty or so 420 foot retrieves (round trip) back to hand, at full speed (she really loves to retrieve), followed by a gentle paced 4km walk where we work on tightening up the “heel”, “sit”, “recall”, etc.. This little girl was born to work that’s for sure and is at her best when she’s been worked. Great in the house too (with the occasional foolishness here and there, but no big deal). When we’re back in the vehicle to come home for breakfast, she’s not even panting. Yikes! I’ve had to get in shape just to keep up.

Of the many things I’m thankful for on Thanksgiving weekend, I’m sure thankful for Isla. She’s a ton of fun!

Serious Dog Illness in Norway

From the Canadian Kennel Club

"On September 17, CKC advised members of a serious dog illness in Norway. In response, the Norwegian Kennel Club (NKK) Board cancelled all dog shows and decided they would not send national teams to FCI Championships until further notice, pending a change in recommendations by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority.

An investigation by the Norwegian Veterinary Institute (NVI) and the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (NFSA) has concluded that the number of diseased dogs is declining, and not all cases of illness are linked. Following the investigation, the NKK has decided to reverse its decision to cancel all shows and will send national teams to the FCI Championships.

More information about the decision can be found on NKK’s website.

CKC urges any members that are traveling within Norway to continue to follow the recommendations of the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, to minimize the risk of exposure."
