Bahrain Bound

Good morning Don,

I did receive your email as well as the attachments, I'll fill out the Purchase Agreement and return it to you on Saturday morning. Thank you so much for approving our adoption by Rose's remaining female pup, she will not regret it. Wendy and I are, after all, committed lab people having gone through a memorable 13 year journey with our beloved (yellow) lab, Cooper whom, sadly, we lost back in 2001 and, although we currently live with a wonderful and extremely docile Dogue De Bordeaux named Spencer, a great personality and, incidentally, the most photographed dog in Bahrain, we had been agonizing for some time about having another lab in the family. When Rod told us about the planned new addition to his family and how impressed he was with your operation (and you personally), we felt it was high time for us to re-visit the issue. Then Rod then told us that maybe, just maybe there is still one pup left and we simply could not resist! Your website is most impressive and, like Rod, we both feel that we could not have made a better choice. On the financial side, I am happy to transfer the advance to you directly, alternatively and as per you email, I'll be happy sort this out with Rod who will bring the whole amount due with him when he travels to Canada in early December so many thanks for that.

Once again, our sincere thanks!

Best regards

Steve & Wendy Meyrick

Sable is great!

Hi Don,

Sable is great! She has been pretty good at following the "bring____" command .

I walk around the house wearing a carpenters belt. In the pockets I have an old pair of my glasses, the phone & treats. Periodically I drop something, and say the "bring" command and she brings it to me.

This morning I was reaching for a box of tea. I dropped it ( which I do quite often) So... I took a chance saying "bring box"

SHE DID!

I did not know what to expect... That is pretty amazing!!!

Thank you so much,

Janette

Belle will be competeing next weekend in a field trial as well

pictures of Bear

Don, I am sending you a few pictures of Bear. These were taken at Green Bay which is near our cottage, shortly after Bear's 1st Birthday Party. He is doing his two FAVORITE things: swimming and retrieving. He goes nuts for both to the point that he drives us crazy! He has been enjoying his summer, spending lots of time at the beach - we get lots of inquiries about where we got him. I think people prefer his lean, muscular look over those fat stubby legged English labs - and we just love him - he is the perfect dog for our family, swimming, playing, hiking, running...

It would be my pleasure to recommend any dog which came from Don

It would be my pleasure to recommend any dog which came from Don. Dyson is 5 months old now and is very much an integral part of my family. I have a little boy who is just over 4 and because Dyson is a laid back, obedient and

a very intelligent dog (which I believe is Yew's temperament also), they
have become the best of friends. He was remarkably easy to train (having
had dogs all my life Dyson is by far the easiest), with house-training
complete within 2 weeks. His effectiveness with his commands has led me to
think that I could enter him into competitions which again is something I
have never considered with my other dogs and I firmly believe that this is a
big part of where he came from.

When I first visited Don and Yew at their home, Yew was very loving towards her pups and very giving towards people
who were visiting. This now shows through in Dyson. I am very proud when people ask me where I got Dyson from and believe and hope he is a credit to the Doindog family.

I met Don via an internet search for Yellow Labradors, whilst I was awaiting
finalization of Permanent Residency ( I am originally from England) and
during this time, Don provided me with answers to questions that arose and
allowed me into his home to visit his dogs and kennels. He has answered all
my questions with ease and efficiency and always accommodated me and still
does.

His dogs are friendly and relaxed which in my eyes shows that they are loved
and well looked after and I feel safe in the knowledge that if there was
ever a problem with Dyson, Don would be the first person that I would turn
to for advice.

I hope that this answers some of your questions, I have included a recent
photograph of Dyson so you can see what he is like now. If there is
anything else that you would like to please, don't hesitate to email me and
I will try and answer as best I can. I wish you the best of luck in your
future choice of (hopefully) a Doindog pup.

Best Wishes

Michelle

Well, she really is a retriever

Out on our afternoon walk in the tall grass, not thinking that I'd shoved the leash in my car-key pocket, we got to the car to realize the key was gone.

It seemed a hopeless task in four - six feet high grass, but I decided to retrace my steps with Misha. She found it in two minutes flat, sniffing my scent deep in the grass where I'd paused to put on the leash.

Our new Bady w/Jasper

Hi Don,

Well, our new bundle of joy has arrived. Kaleigh Margaret Mary Johnson
was born on June 21st at 5:47pm. We arrived home yesterday afternoon.

My parents had Jasper while we were in the hospital. Shawn dropped
Kaleigh and I off and then went back to get her for the big
introduction. Don - we had no idea what to expect and as you can tell
by the two pictures that I have attached, she is AMAZING! That is the
main word I can use to describe her. I was holding her last night;
Jasper was sound asleep on the floor, got up and came to my chair,
kissed Kaleigh's fingers and laid back down. She just keeps checking on
her. It is just too sweet and we couldn't have asked for a better dog!

Hope all is well with you!!!! I must get going and gather up the troops
now as we are going out for a drive before all of the company starts to
arrive.

Angela :)

Puppies

Hi Don,

I apologize for all of the questions! We definitely want a yellow male from
Yew. I must tell you we have been to other breeders all over the province
and your dogs are the best!!! We have our hearts set on a DoinDog!

When should we get the deposit to you and when will Yew's pups be ready to
go home? In August or born in August? If we drop by a deposit soon will we
be on a wait list or guaranteed a puppy?

Thank you for answering our questions!

My dog team

Don,

Here's a few pictures for you to look at. There's a couple attached of me
and my dog team. One with my daughter and her favourite of the team "Snowball". She always likes to take her out for a run. She won the kids dog sled race with her again this year. There's also one of me, Vyann and Taylor.

Breton Update

Don,

Just wanted to let you know that we had Breton to the vet today and all is great. The vet commented on his health and said that he is in great shape. We are about to begin a little more intense training, but up to this point he picks things up pretty fast (good and bad). We have many children in the neighbourhood and he goes nuts when he sees them. Our neighbour has a daughter who comes over and takes Breton for walks, he is amazingly well behaved with her.

I have attached a couple of recent photos.

Jasper CD, High in Class

Hello Don,

How are you? Today was a very exciting day for us. We
accompilished our first goal in obedience today at the Dartmouth Kennel
Club trials. With a score of 186 (high in class) Doindogs Jasper
received her title of companion dog (CD), both Angela and myself are
very proud of our 16 month old yellow lab. To make things even better,
After the trial was over the judge gave me a few pointers adding that
she thought that Jasper had a tonne of potential. I have included a few
pictures of the day for you and Pierrette. There is no doubt in my mind
that without your obedience classes and your personal help that this
would have ever been accomplished. Once again THANK YOU for all of your
support and for such an incredible dog.

P.S. when can we start CDX ?

Incredible dog

Don and Pierette,

Marilyn and I wish to thank you for providing us with an incredible dog. 'Raven' has proved to be (in just six days) the smartest and most personable little dog we ever had. You are to be commended for this. 'Raven' always goes outdoors to do his business and only soiled his cage on nights one and two and that was because I was not up to speed on the schedule. Once I clued into the timing of nightly outings, all was dry. He goes every three hours at night: 12pm, 3am and 6am (at which time he eats and accompanies Marilyn and I on a two hour walk (some of which he is carried).

He is quiet when in his cage and loves everyone. Incidentally, our Himalayan cat 'Zoe' is slowly accepting him, not that 'Raven' notices. They will be great friends once he grows up a bit. He is happy, healthy and huggable!

thanks again,

Brian Gallivan

Daytona

Hi Don & Pierrett,

just wanted to drop you a line to let you know how Daytona is making out....she's such a good girl! and smart! wow she already is learning simple commands such as come and sit, she also has learned what No means too!..lol..(she's tried a few shoes) she's going to love the water and has been in it already! (I'll attatch pictures) She's very cuddly and has fit right in with the other animals at our place, she also takes no slack from Spirit(our jack russell) when Spirit growls at her she comes right back at her with a saucy little bark! Spirit doesn't know what to do with her! lol..it's priceless!

She has begun crate training, she doesn't sleep in it at night however when we go out she goes in it for safety, she's doing real good! only cries a bit when we put her in and then settles right down. She already goes to the door and cries to go out and do her "business" can't believe this but with everybodies eyes on her like they have been, she's rarely had the chance to have an acident on the floor! She loves Santana(our older lab) I think she reminds her of her mom.

she cuddles into her alot and just sleeps (Santana doesn't do a thing!) gotta love the Labs layed back personality! Daytona is also very good in the truck, she just sleeps.Well I guess I covered everything, so i must go for now, take care and we'll talk again soon!

Thankyou for such a beautiful pup!

Shannon & Daytona!

Wonderful afternoon

Hi Don;

We had such a wonderful afternoon with you and Bella and Mutt. It was really great of you to give Sarah the opportunity to be in the ring. We are so proud of her for taking up the challenge in a public forum. I think the experience gave us all a sense of inspiration in our journey towards being lab owners. Thank you for the link to the dog show events. I have looked it over and will keep an eye out for info about you in the Moncton show on May 6/7. I have attached a couple of photos for you. I know you took some video so I thought you might like a still or two.

Truly amazing pup

Dear Don,

We are just now beginning to realize what a truly amazing pup you have given us. What a gift.

She is astonishingly intelligent compared to any other dog we've ever known. She has already - IN THREE DAYS - got the basics down to the "come" command. She has already - IN THREE DAYS - become completely relaxed and bonded to us as her new pack. She has already - IN THREE DAYS - got the basics down for house training (it's us who occasionally miss her signals).

She is also, as you intimated, very birdy. Goes nuts when she sees a crow or a starling; and when sneaking up this evening on a squeaky toy, assumed the standard setter position.

She is also amazingly sociable and responsive. Two or three couples

have come by to meet her, and she loads them down with affection and unthreatened response. Amazing dog. I hope we're up to her.

What a gift.

Bonnie & Elliott

P.S. She fell out of bed last night.

FANTASTIC weekend!

Hi all,

Well, we had a FANTASTIC weekend! For those of you who do not know, we entered Jasper into her first obedience trail at Exhibition Park. We have been training her since she was 4 months old (she is now 13 months old). We started her with a 10 week class with our fabulous breeder, Don Bates (Doindogs) then worked with her on our own. About 4 weeks ago, we started taking her to a refresher class to get ready for this show. This was to work towards her title of CD which stands for Companion Dog. We need to qualify (get a score of 170 or higher; high being a score of 200), 3 times with 2 different judges.

Shawn and Jasper had a very successful weekend. We scored 182 out of 200 in yesterday's trial and 176 1/2 out of 200 in today's trial and we got High In Class in both shows as well!!! Needless to say, she was just exhausted by the time we got home today. Now, we head to a show in Truro in just over a month. If we qualify there, then she has her title of CD and then we start working on her next title which is CDX. The last two pictures we just took. The second last is her with her qualifying ribbons and the last one is with her two High In Class ribbons. We are so proud!

Thanks to our family who were able to make to make it to the shows this weekend and for Don and Pierrette for coming to both shows as well. We greatly appreciate it!

Until next time....

Angie :)

Ben

Hi Don,

Just want to let you know that we are doing well. Like all puppies, ben likes to chew and bite on anything he gets a hold of. He was constantly chewing on the drawer knobs in the kichen until today. I put tabasco sauce on them . All it took was one lick and as of now he has stayed clear of them and a few other things that he has been nipping at.

Right now he is only up once during the night for a pee break. (Settles around 8:30 - 9:00 and wakes up around 6:30.) The kids just love him. They enjoy running around with him outside. I took him to work and everybody made a big fuss over him. Overall i think ben is adjusting very well. He knows where his water dish is, and when you say "kennel" he goes right to it. We just love him so much. Ben has completed our family. We can't thank you enough.

I'm sure as the weeks go on and when training starts (which will be probably be late next week) i will have lots of questions for you. In the meantime take care.

Happy New Year!

I just received your e-mails, went on the site and WOW! I cannot wait for Pro to see it. I am up earlier, getting ready for church. We are busy busy. Seems like one day just melts into another.

Kayla is amazing. She has calmed down so much. She just has a great routine with the other pups here. I cannot get over how much she looks like Roo. I don't think she knows her own strenth sometimes. The muscles POP off of her!

She is as sweet as anything. Her eyes are the most expressive eyes I have ever seen on a dog! I just love her so much. She does think that she is lap dog size though and is so funny when she tries to squeeze up onto a tiny spot.

I am hoping that Pro and I can travel some now that we are married. His son Joe is leaving for school on Friday. We have a two day drive to St Louis, MO! So a trip to NS may seem like a hop skip jump!

Have not seen Debra for awhile, hope to get together with her soon!

Hope that you are well!

Bonnie
