Merlin says grace

Good evening Sunshine!

Yes we have been absentee emailers since the summer I think? That's my fault. I hurt my back and was quite restricted in my activity including hiking :( but we have been making up for lost time since March. Merlin is good! A mature 4 year old now, he is a full 80lbs now as he finally filled out and he has sprouted a few grey hairs on his chin and looks quite dignified.

He still gets into the detachment every so often to make his rounds with the prisoners and we get out on long hikes every block of days off again. I'll attach some pics.

That ol' Puck is spreading his seed! I bet he will top Storm some day. My friends had to put their Golden down in August and they have a mutt pup now with some collie and Shepard in her. She accompanies us on our hikes these days. His other buddies just left for Kugluktuk in NU but we may follow them next year who knows?!

Oh and Merlin now sleeps with me...he won me over. Every so often he gets relegated to the couch when he needs a reminder of the pecking order but otherwise he's still the cuddliest most lovable creature ever!

Thanks for emailing - it had been on my mind.

Sad New

Hi Don,

I don’t know if you will remember us, but 13 years ago (Feb 28, 2004), Duce came into this world.  He had a wonderful life and even this past weekend went to the cottage and swam in the Bay.  Unfortunately, on Sunday after returning home, he passed away during his afternoon nap under his favorite tree in our backyard.  We are all going to miss him tremendously; Dave, Pam and Gage his younger brother who you also graced us with.

For about the last year, Duce struggled with arthritis and a collapsed larynx, however, this didn’t stop him from doing what he wanted to do; it only slowed him down a bit.  He was (and will always be) a beautiful boy!

Enjoyed the East Coast trail with Roxy!

Hey Don!

Yesterday we enjoyed a 7K hike along the East Coast trail with Roxy! She had a great time and enjoyed going through all the water and bog! She was rotten, but very happy :) I attached some pics of us on the hike! My oldest son, Connor, is in the pics. Nothing better than a boy and his dog ❤️ He loves her so much!

Roxy update

Hi Don!
How's everything going? Hope your weather is better than what we have here in NL. Lots of icebergs and freezing rain again tonight. Here are some recent pics of Roxy! The one of her and my little girl on the couch is so sweet! They both had their arms around each other 😊 another pic of Roxy with all the pack ice we had in the harbour and another with one of the icebergs!

Bailee update

Hey Don,

Figured I'd drop you an email with a 1 year update on Bailee ( Dot and Puck pup). She is a fantastic dog and we couldn't be happier with her.   She is a great partner to have in the woods or in blind and perfect around the house. We get a lot of compliments about her demeanour and looks. Attached are a few recent pictures.

Picture of our Jay

Hello Don,

Thank you once again for your visit. We really appreciate it.

We saw a lot of pictures of dogs at your website. And since Alex is a decent photographer, we thought maybe you would like to share a picture of our Jay on your website.

Thank you and have a great day!

Our boy Buck is 7 years young today!

Hi Don,

Our boy Buck is 7 years young today! He's now a big brother to two little girls who adore him, and is still as lively and fun-loving as the day that he came home with us.
I hope all is well with you. I've attached a few recent pictures!

Take care,
Jenna, Nick & Buck

Brie and Rye (pics)

Brie snuggling with the bears and Rye thinking about "Socks" that I just folded up. I never under estimate Miss Rye's thinking skills in tricking me. Socks, Socks, I think she dreams of them. Their isn't a sock in our house that doesn't have the scars of Miss Rye. That's a Puck pup for sure.
