Jasper's Christmas

Hello there Doindogs Family!

So sorry that we did not make it over to see you all before Christmas!
It was such a busy time!  We have no idea where it went!

I thought I would send along a couple of pictures of Jasper from
Christmas morning.  She had a lot of fun helping Kaleigh open presents
and opening her own.  :)

Shawn is off until next Tuesday so hopefully we will have time to pop
over and see you before the New Year!

See you soon!

Angie :)

Sable's Story

I want to tell you the story of  my Wonderful Black Labrador Retriever, Sable;

My Service Dog Sable is home with me for good.  She has been in training for 15 months.  I have been keeping a journal since her arrival from 'Doindogs Kennel in Canada.

When I approached the Trainers at C & G  K-9 school, about a Service Dog...they said yes they do that type of training.

But, Pro the head trainer, suggested I call Don Bates at Doindogs Kennel in Canada.  He had used some of his dogs for work with a Hearing Impaired client.

I called Mr. Bates.  His dogs have been used by the Toronto Police K-9 unit & for Service Dogs.  He & His Vet selected the dog they felt was right for my needs.   These are wonderful dogs.  You can look up His Kennel at www.doindogs.com.  Sable even has her own page!

He sent her down when she was 3 months old.  She Bonded with Me for 2 months.  Then My friend Jessie took her for 'Puppy Boot Camp'.  When she was 6 months old, Jessie sent her back to me.

That's when Sable started her Service Dog Training with Joe, at C & G  K-9 School in Uniondale.

They have taught her many things.

C&G K-9
243 Oak Street
Uniondale, NY 11553
516-489-6582
1 800 924-PAWS

I especially like when Sable picks up the things that I drop.   The Command is "get____"  my keys, glasses, books, etc.   Anything I drop.

***For me the best one is 'Get Phone' .... she will get portable phone if I fall!

This is so reassuring to me, to know that Sable is there to help me when I am alone.  I highly recommend getting a Service Dog.

This is all possible because of the selective breeding Don Bates at 'Doindogs Kennel' and the expert training she received at 'C & G K-9 Patrol School.

I highly recommend Service Dogs for the M.S. Community.  This is something I want to share.

Merry Christmas & Happy Healthy New Year,

Bentley

Good evening Don,

Just wanted to let you know Bentley is a very popular addition to our family. Everyone is in love with her!She sleeps in her kennel at night and sticks to us like glue all day. She has a bed in our tv room and she takes all her toys there for safe keeping. House training is going well. My only concern is how little she eats. She drinks lots of water but eats barely one cup of food per day. If I should be concerned, let me know.

Anyway, thanks again; your pups are super.

Kona

Hi Don.

I just want to say thank you for the information about the other pups. Also, thank you for Kona! She is truly an amazing pup. She is so sweet tempered and smart. I am not kidding when I say she knows the following commands; come, sit and down. We are working on ‘roll over’ and she almost has the hang of it. She is quite good about going into her crate and she is doing well at night. She’s a charmer!

Abby

Hi Don and Pierette,

Thought you might enjoy some recent pictures of Abby. Everything has been going really well - she's been housetrained now for over a month and has been quick to learn new commands.

She thoroughly enjoyed our recent snowfall (as you may guess from some of the pics) and gets just as excited about water or going in the car.

We couldn't be happier with her and can't believe how much she's grown already.

Thanks again

Jaz

Hi Don,

We thought you might want to see pictures of Jaz.  She met her brother Angus today at puppy training class with Lietash.  Overall, the housetraining is going really well, we still need to work on her bite inhibition.

She`s a lot of fun and we absolutely love her and you're welcome to come visit if you wish.  We'll certainly recommend you to other friends and family.

Casey

Hey Don,

Here are some pictures of Casey. He is actually as nice a dog as he looks in the photo's. The kids love him, especially my daughter, and he fits in perfectly with the family. As you can tell he has the run of the house (the sofa he's sitting on was delivered about 6-7 hours prior to the picture being taken). He seems to like his crate and he's catching on to the house training (most of the time).

By the way, he LOVES to run. When we go to the park he either wants to sit and look at you (as you call to him) or run at full tilt.

He's a great puppy and I can see he's going to be a fantastic dog.

Sable

I want to tell everyone about my wonderful Black Lab, Sable!

I have Multiple Sclerosis, and today is not one of my better days but, Sable is a wonderful companion.

She has been trained to pick up and give me things that I drop...my keys, glasses, my cane, and just about anything. Sable was trained at C & G K-9 School.

When I dropped a box, and with out asking Sable picked it up. She even gave me a tea bag that fell to the floor.

She paces herself to walk next to me, almost as if she has been glued to my leg. She is very attentive & Intelligent, those are things Pro felt I needed.

Sable walks next to me, even when she is not on a leash. It is almost as if she is glued to my leg.

Right now, As I went up stairs to this computer... She followed me & is laying about 2 feet behind me.

My son Clark, just walked over her to get something, then back again...she didn't move. Sable is staying with me.

My Dear Friend Jessie kept Sable for several months of 'puppy boot Camp'. She taught her how to behave in public;

The grocery store, Post Office, the Mall & Restaurants.

Then she went to C & G Canine school and they 'finished' her very well.

I cannot Thank or Praise them enough...

But Sables Breeder Don Bates from DOINDOGS KENNEL deserves some of the credit, too. Don is a great breeder of Labrador Retrievers.

His Dogs are smart, eager to please & wonderful companions. I Highly recommend this Kennel.

I am grateful to all of these people. I am very happy with my Sable. I do need help around the house....Sable is eager to help me!

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH

Wonderful pup

Hey Don,

We wanted to send you a thank you for the wonderful pup. We are very pleased with her. She has made "leaps" with her crate training already with only one week at home!

We all want to express our gratitude for allowing us "all" into your home so willingly for visits. You both showed great kindness to our three children during those times. Brook seems to be as happy with us as we are with her! She was very shy the first day we brought her home. Since then she hasn't looked back. She is one of the family!

Thanks

Daytona

Hi there, just wanted to drop you a line or two to update you on Daytona girl....she's defenately growing!! I wonder if she's ever going to stop!..lol..when she sprawls out on out coach her toes are at one end and her nose at the other!...she's the largest lab we have ever owned, even larger than our male! We absolutely love her! and couldn't be more happy with her! She is the most affectionate Lab we have ever owned and a loyal companion already...

We took her on a moose hunting trip with us up in the highlands of Cape Breton this past October, She got to see her first moose..lol..what a hoot that was! she was sooo scared at first,(hid under the truck) then she finally came around and got "nose to nose" with it..lol..

She is listening very well, however I think she needs to get out in the public more... she seems a bit timid around people she doesn't know, as well as other dogs(she's scared) . I've got to work on this one with her...

Thanks again for her! We absolutely LOVE our Daytona girl!!

Bahrain Bound

Good morning Don,

I did receive your email as well as the attachments, I'll fill out the Purchase Agreement and return it to you on Saturday morning. Thank you so much for approving our adoption by Rose's remaining female pup, she will not regret it. Wendy and I are, after all, committed lab people having gone through a memorable 13 year journey with our beloved (yellow) lab, Cooper whom, sadly, we lost back in 2001 and, although we currently live with a wonderful and extremely docile Dogue De Bordeaux named Spencer, a great personality and, incidentally, the most photographed dog in Bahrain, we had been agonizing for some time about having another lab in the family. When Rod told us about the planned new addition to his family and how impressed he was with your operation (and you personally), we felt it was high time for us to re-visit the issue. Then Rod then told us that maybe, just maybe there is still one pup left and we simply could not resist! Your website is most impressive and, like Rod, we both feel that we could not have made a better choice. On the financial side, I am happy to transfer the advance to you directly, alternatively and as per you email, I'll be happy sort this out with Rod who will bring the whole amount due with him when he travels to Canada in early December so many thanks for that.

Once again, our sincere thanks!

Best regards

Steve & Wendy Meyrick

Sable is great!

Hi Don,

Sable is great! She has been pretty good at following the "bring____" command .

I walk around the house wearing a carpenters belt. In the pockets I have an old pair of my glasses, the phone & treats. Periodically I drop something, and say the "bring" command and she brings it to me.

This morning I was reaching for a box of tea. I dropped it ( which I do quite often) So... I took a chance saying "bring box"

SHE DID!

I did not know what to expect... That is pretty amazing!!!

Thank you so much,

Janette

Belle will be competeing next weekend in a field trial as well

pictures of Bear

Don, I am sending you a few pictures of Bear. These were taken at Green Bay which is near our cottage, shortly after Bear's 1st Birthday Party. He is doing his two FAVORITE things: swimming and retrieving. He goes nuts for both to the point that he drives us crazy! He has been enjoying his summer, spending lots of time at the beach - we get lots of inquiries about where we got him. I think people prefer his lean, muscular look over those fat stubby legged English labs - and we just love him - he is the perfect dog for our family, swimming, playing, hiking, running...

It would be my pleasure to recommend any dog which came from Don

It would be my pleasure to recommend any dog which came from Don. Dyson is 5 months old now and is very much an integral part of my family. I have a little boy who is just over 4 and because Dyson is a laid back, obedient and

a very intelligent dog (which I believe is Yew's temperament also), they
have become the best of friends. He was remarkably easy to train (having
had dogs all my life Dyson is by far the easiest), with house-training
complete within 2 weeks. His effectiveness with his commands has led me to
think that I could enter him into competitions which again is something I
have never considered with my other dogs and I firmly believe that this is a
big part of where he came from.

When I first visited Don and Yew at their home, Yew was very loving towards her pups and very giving towards people
who were visiting. This now shows through in Dyson. I am very proud when people ask me where I got Dyson from and believe and hope he is a credit to the Doindog family.

I met Don via an internet search for Yellow Labradors, whilst I was awaiting
finalization of Permanent Residency ( I am originally from England) and
during this time, Don provided me with answers to questions that arose and
allowed me into his home to visit his dogs and kennels. He has answered all
my questions with ease and efficiency and always accommodated me and still
does.

His dogs are friendly and relaxed which in my eyes shows that they are loved
and well looked after and I feel safe in the knowledge that if there was
ever a problem with Dyson, Don would be the first person that I would turn
to for advice.

I hope that this answers some of your questions, I have included a recent
photograph of Dyson so you can see what he is like now. If there is
anything else that you would like to please, don't hesitate to email me and
I will try and answer as best I can. I wish you the best of luck in your
future choice of (hopefully) a Doindog pup.

Best Wishes

Michelle

Well, she really is a retriever

Out on our afternoon walk in the tall grass, not thinking that I'd shoved the leash in my car-key pocket, we got to the car to realize the key was gone.

It seemed a hopeless task in four - six feet high grass, but I decided to retrace my steps with Misha. She found it in two minutes flat, sniffing my scent deep in the grass where I'd paused to put on the leash.

Our new Bady w/Jasper

Hi Don,

Well, our new bundle of joy has arrived. Kaleigh Margaret Mary Johnson
was born on June 21st at 5:47pm. We arrived home yesterday afternoon.

My parents had Jasper while we were in the hospital. Shawn dropped
Kaleigh and I off and then went back to get her for the big
introduction. Don - we had no idea what to expect and as you can tell
by the two pictures that I have attached, she is AMAZING! That is the
main word I can use to describe her. I was holding her last night;
Jasper was sound asleep on the floor, got up and came to my chair,
kissed Kaleigh's fingers and laid back down. She just keeps checking on
her. It is just too sweet and we couldn't have asked for a better dog!

Hope all is well with you!!!! I must get going and gather up the troops
now as we are going out for a drive before all of the company starts to
arrive.

Puppies

Hi Don,

I apologize for all of the questions! We definitely want a yellow male from
Yew. I must tell you we have been to other breeders all over the province
and your dogs are the best!!! We have our hearts set on a DoinDog!

When should we get the deposit to you and when will Yew's pups be ready to
go home? In August or born in August? If we drop by a deposit soon will we
be on a wait list or guaranteed a puppy?

Thank you for answering our questions!
